Overview

This Segway ride comes in three route choices. Pick the shortest riverside loop, add the climb to Bratislava Castle, or take the full circuit that also swings past the Presidential Palace and Main Square. Whichever you choose, the ride starts with training and a helmet, then heads into the Old City with a local guide.

Every route covers the same core of the old town: Primatial Square, the Old Slovak National Theatre, Hviezdoslavovo Square and the Holy Trinity Column. From there the group rides out to the banks of the Danube, where the whole city spreads out in front of you, and crosses two bridges, the reopened Old Bridge and the UFO Bridge. The castle options continue up the hill to the castle complex, and the full route adds the Presidential Palace, whose panoramic terrace looks out towards Austria and Hungary, as well as the Main Square.

It suits travellers who want to cover a lot of ground quickly without walking it, and one reviewer reported it worked well for their older parents for exactly that reason. Nervous riders are not left out either: the operator offers e-scooters, e-bikes or regular bikes as alternatives to the Segway.

What To Expect From The Tour

A few practical points will help you pick the right route and arrive prepared.

Common issues. No hotel pickup or drop-off is included, so you need to make your own way to the meeting point. Riding under the influence of alcohol means the guide can cancel your tour without a refund. There is a minimum height of 120 centimeters, which rules out smaller children. The castle routes involve climbing a hill. Tours run in all weather, and heavy rain or freezing conditions are the only stated grounds to reschedule or get a refund.

Common Questions

What is included in the price?

The price covers the guide, the Segway rental, training, a helmet and a bottle of water. You can also ride an e-scooter, an e-bike or a regular bike instead of the Segway if you prefer. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.

Is hotel pickup included?

No. The tour starts at Frantiskanske namestie 8 in Bratislava, in the walking zone next to a Mexican restaurant. Arrive 10 minutes early. If you drive, the Opera and Carlton garages are both a 3-minute walk from the meeting point.

How long is the tour and what routes can I choose?

There are three options: a 1-hour riverside route, a 1.5-hour route that adds Bratislava Castle, and a 2-hour complete city route that also takes in the Presidential Palace and Main Square. All routes pass the same Old City sights and both bridges.

Is it suitable for beginners or older travellers?

Yes. Training is included before every ride, and reviewers say the machines were intuitive even for first-timers. One traveller specifically recommended it for their older parents, since it covered a lot of ground without much walking. If you are nervous about a Segway, e-scooters, e-bikes and regular bikes are available.

Can children take part?

Riders must be at least 120 centimeters tall, roughly 3 foot 11 inches. The listing states no other age policy, so shorter children cannot take part.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. If bad weather turns severe, heavy rain or freezing conditions, you are entitled to cancel with a refund or reschedule to another date. Note that the guide can cancel without refund if you have been drinking alcohol.
